Care and Commitment

Fostering typically requires a commitment of approximately 4-6 weeks (or until adoption, depending on the dog’s needs and progress).

The goal of fostering is to provide a calm, predictable family routine, offer emotional safety and stability, support decompression and healing, and help the dog regain confidence and trust.

Foster Care Agreement

I voluntarily enter into this agreement to provide a temporary home as a foster caregiver to any animal, Dood Ranch Rescue and Sanctuary may temporarily place in my care.

I understand that I may be required to provide foster care for my foster animal for an extended period of time.

I understand that Dood Ranch Rescue and Sanctuary provide no guarantee as to the health of my foster animal and that my foster animal may have medical needs, socialization problems, and may not be housebroken.

I understand that Dood Ranch Rescue and Sanctuary do not always know the temperament of incoming dogs. It is our responsibility to limit or isolate our foster dog from children, other dogs, cats, etc. until I/we know how our foster dog will interact with those listed. If at any time we feel our foster dog is a concern, it is our responsibility to contact Dood Ranch Rescue and Sanctuary to remove the dog.

I AGREE I WILL NOT ARRANGE FOR ANY VETERINARY CARE FOR MY FOSTER ANIMAL WITHOUT CONSENT OF DOOD RANCH RESCUE AND SANCTUARY.

I understand that my foster animal may have training needs and Dood Ranch Rescue and Sanctuary is not responsible for any damage to my personal property. It is my responsibility to crate my foster dog when an adult is not present to monitor/address behavior issues.

I understand that I may only have my foster animal temporarily, and at any point, the foster animal can be pulled and placed in a new home at Dood Ranch Rescue and Sanctuary’s discretion.

I agree that I am fostering this animal for Dood Ranch Rescue and Sanctuary, and that I do not have any right of ownership over my foster animal. I further agree that Dood Ranch Rescue and Sanctuary’s rights are superior to mine.

If I am planning to move at any time during the period when I am housing a foster animal, I agree to contact Dood Ranch Rescue and Sanctuary prior to my move and provide Dood Ranch Rescue and Sanctuary with my new contact information. I understand that Dood Ranch Rescue and Sanctuary has the right to request the return of my foster animal based on my change of residence and agree that I will surrender my foster animal to Dood Ranch Rescue and Sanctuary immediately upon request.

If at any point I can no longer, or do not want to continue to provide care and shelter for my foster animal, I agree to contact Dood Ranch Rescue and Sanctuary and arrange for the return of my foster animal back to Dood Ranch Rescue and Sanctuary.

I will not transfer possession or custody of my foster animal to any other person at any time, except for temporary, short-term possession for the purpose of vet care, grooming, or similar previously authorized circumstances.

I agree to contact Dood Ranch Rescue and Sanctuary with all questions or concerns about my foster animal or the Foster Care Program as well as with updated contact information.

I agree that if I refuse or fail to comply with any provision of this agreement, Dood Ranch Rescue and Sanctuary has the right to terminate this agreement and has the right to the immediate return of my foster animal. I further consent to provide Dood Ranch Rescue and Sanctuary access to my premises if necessary to facilitate the return.
